son and for the other 360 kids with special needs whose programming will be disrupted. >> if ain't broke, don't fix it. >> reporter: the county office of education will hold another hearing wednesday, then decide if the idea of sa session can move forward. the state will have the final word. in concord, cornell bernard, abc7 news. >> breaking news, a manhunt is on right now after a gunman opened fire on police in chicago. police say it was a targeted attack. two officers were almost shot in the back. investigators say two vehicles pulled up alongside the officers' patrol car and someone started firing. both officers are in serious condition, but are expected to survive. >> new at 11:00, it came out of nowhere. tonight a car flew off the road and crashed right into a solano county home. >> check it out. it happened just after 7:00 tonight in vallejo. abc7 news reporter has the story. >> reporter: to say john jackson had bad luck would be an understatement. >> this is the second time.

move. >> i've got allstate. i'm in good hands. >> reporter: the driver, meantime is being treated at kais kaiser for minor injuries. abc7 news. >> temperatures are cooling across the bay area tonight. here's a live look from our emeryville camera. temperatures reached the 90s today. we're not done with the heat just yet. abc7 news meteorologist sandhya patel is here with the latest. sandhya. >> it was a record setting day. take a look at the temperatures. 87 in richmond, 90 in napa. records for today. we had plenty of 90s in our inland valleys where we definitely felt the heat today. as you take a look as to what's coming tomorrow, the hot weather is going to hang on inland. first spare the air alert of the season has been declared. inland east bay poor air quality moderate for the rest of the bay area, but live doppler 7 showing you some fog. i'll let you know when this will bring some cooling relief to the entire bay area coming up. dan? >> we'll need it. thanks, sandhya, very much.

a dog left alone in a car in the north bay, dexter was rescued today in downtown san rafael. police say the temperature inside the vehicle he was in reached 156 degrees. poor dexter. the doors were unlocked so the police got him out easily. the owner received a citation. stay on top of the weather where you live with the abc7 accuweather app. download it free from the store. search for accuweather. >> more than 100 students have locked themselves inside kerr hall. they say they're not leaving either until the university meets their demand. >> abc7 news reporter is live on the campus. ka katey. >> reporter: there are 1 to 200 students inside the building. they've been inside there since early this afternoon. they told me they had no other choice.

the african black student alliance took over the administration building, locking the front door with chains and blocking others with furniture. organizers say the university wasn't listening. a spokesperson didn't want to give her name. >> we gave the chancellor a simple, very simple list of demands that will up lift and affirm the humanity of our black people. we will be here until our demands are met and we are not leaving until they are met. >> reporter: they want, among other things, guaranteed housing for african black caribbean students at the rosa parks african-american themed house, and they want the house painted red, green and black. a u.c. santa cruz chancellor says they have responded to the demands. >> with an explanation of what we're working on, what we're able to do, what we're not able to do. there's a variety of reasons for each situation. >> reporter: he says because it's a peaceful protest, the university will let it unfold. it started at noon with a march through campus. the reclamation of the space as the students are calling it happened around 1:30. at u.c. santa cruz, katey

marzullo, abc7 news. >> we heard from a 15-year-old boy shot to death in san francisco. he died yesterday. police say he was driving at sunset boulevard and kirk ham street when someone opened fire. they haven't determined if the gunman was targeting jackson or a 16-year-old passenger who was not hurt. his family says he hadn't been going to school and was having some issues, but they loved him through it all. >> we always hugged and kissed when we greet one another. and that's where he comes from. we're not perfect, but we love each other. and we're a strong family. >> family members say they forgive the suspect because they know that person's family is also hurting. >> a man who was in the standoff with police for 19 hours has been charged with murder. prosecutors say 38-year-old greg killed his wife in walnut creek on thursday. he was tracked to martinez where he refused to leave his car. police say he was armed with a

alma. in santa rosa, starts out cool. 57 degrees. look at the temperatures rising quickly by 4:00, 91 degrees. the inland areas will feel it again. if you're along the coast line, i have to tell you, you might be happy to hear that on live doppler 7 we're beginning to see some signs of change. half moon bay reporting fog right now and five mile visibility. here's a look at the hour-by-hour forecast. as we take you into tomorrow morning's commute, you're going to be seeing fog right along the coast line at 5:00 a.m. as we head into about the afternoon hours, the fog will still linger right along the coast in around point reyes area. that is what's going to cool you off at the beaches. hour by hour forecast, showing you the morning commute planner, driving, it is going to be foggy near the coast so use caution. light chop, ferry ride will be good. if you're walking it will be nice and comfortable. temperatures now may not be so comfortable sleeping if you don't have the a.c. mild to warm outside just about everywhere in the 60s and 70s

except in half moon bay. a spectacular bouview from our t bay camera. sutro tower is good now. it will not be the kay tomorrow morning. morning fog at the coast, cooler in the afternoon. heat hangs on inland. it will be cooler in all areas thursday. a sharp drop in temperatures, san jose you're going from 87 tomorrow afternoon to 71 on friday. a good 16 degrees cooler. concord dropping 21. you will feel the difference as we head into friday. hang in there if you don't like the hot weather. you can always download the abc7 accuweather app to help you keep track of the changing temperatures. the fog will be back, visibilty will be low at the beaches. temperatures in the 50s and 60s across the bay area. mild est reading inland. more like a summer morning than spring morning. tomorrow 88 in morgan hill, 88 in san jose. on the peninsula mostly 80s. the fog will be back in the

sunset district. and that will drop your temperatures 68 degrees downtown san francisco, 75, north bay still wamer than average by a good 10 to 20 degrees. 91 in santa rosa. in the east bay 80, oakland 86, fremont inland, and it's going to be hot again. 92 degrees in concord, 91 in livermore. here's a look at the accuweather seven-day forecast. if you like the hot weather, you have one more day to enjoy it. if you don't like it, head to the coast. the fog will drop your temperatures mid 60s to mid 90s tomorrow. cooling will spread thursday, low 60s to upper 80s. notice the sharper drop in the temperatures. good 20 degrees inland, mid 70s inland on friday. 50s coast side, gusty winds dropping the temperatures further over the weekend. and we're even bringing in a slight chance of showers between saturday night and sunday. and then we dry back out again. alma and dan? >> interesting. sandhya, thank you. >> all right. well, forget the unicorn
